Local rail operator Northern to introduce more defibrillators
A total of 60 more will be installed over three months
The train operator also installed more than 100 across its network last year, with the life-saving equipment deployed 22 times.
Each kit has step-by-step spoken word instructions built-in to it which explain how to use it on someone in an emergency.
Technology inside the device analyses heart rhythms to find out if electric shock treatment is needed.
Chief operating officer Tricia Williams says: "Our 187 defibrillators are a huge benefit to both customers and the communities we serve as they are all positioned in public places where anyone can use them.
"The installation of 60 more could help save more lives. We plan to continue to introduce this equipment at evenn more of our stations."
New defibrillators are going in place at stations including - Buxton, Congleton, Sandbach, Greenbank, Northwich, New Mills Central, Disley and Whaley Bridge.
