Witness appeal after goose killed with weapon in East Staffordshire
Officers say the goose was attacked with a 'spear-type' weapon
Police are appealing for witnesses after two men attacked and killed a wild goose with a weapon in East Staffordshire.
The goose was attacked sometime between 2pm to 2.15pm on Tuesday (19 April) by two men brandishing a ‘spear-type’ weapon, in the The Washlands area, close to the river in Burton-upon-Trent.
Attending officers sadly discovered the dead goose a short time later.
Searches of the nearby area were negative.
One of the suspects is described as white, approximately 5ft 10in tall, with curly hair and was wearing a red baseball cap, a green jacket and blue jeans.
The second suspect is described as white, roughly 5ft 7in in height, with curly hair and was wearing a brown jacket and pale blue trousers.
Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the attack or saw men acting suspiciously in the area at the time.
PC Harry Pearsall, the officer in charge of the case, said: “This is a despicable act against an innocent animal which was unable to defend itself against its armed attackers.
