The relay leaves Stafford Castle around 2pm, heading along Newport Road to Victoria Park before onward travel to Stone, with around 20 baton bearers involved.

Activities in Stone start at the leisure centre after 3pm, with a journey calling at Westbridge Park, through the town and back up the High Street to the Canoe Club and time on the water taking part in a slalom course.

Back to the water when the baton arrives in the Staffordshire Moorlands, when a flotilla of boats from Rudyard sailing and rowing clubs accompany the baton bearer at the lake after 5pm.

Then the relay is at Leek town centre taking in Stanley Street, Derby Street and the Market Place around 6.30pm.

The final stop in the district here is Alton Towers for a rollercoaster ride and an iconic shot of the area from a high vantage point when it’s up there.

Then it’s on to Uttoxeter early on Wednesday as the baton visits the leisure centre from 8am, through Bramshall Park and St George’s Park.
