Application made to protect The Crooked House site further
The iconic South Staffordshire pub was demolished six months ago
An application has been lodged to make the iconic Crooked House site in Staffordshire an asset of community value.
Campaigners and South Staffs MP - Gavin Williamson - submitted the paper - meaning if the area is listed communities are informed if they are put for sale.
It gives residents an opportunity to fundraise to buy the asset themselves.
Paul Turner has been leading the campaign to get the Crooked House rebuilt - he says it's great to get the support they need.
We've been struggling to get support from the authorities for the ACV protection" he said.
"We're very happy that Sir Gavin offered his help when he visited us for our Memory Wall event which was to mark the six month anniversairy of the fire.
"This is one of many things that we are doing to protect the site from more damage and from further development.
"We believe there may be remnants of a water wheel and its workings underground which of historical value, and approaches have been made to Historic England relating to this."
