The Conservatives have kept hold of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner role for Staffordshire, with Ben Adams winning the election.

He recieved more than 136,000 votes, or 57% of the overall vote share.

Labour's Tony Kearon came second place, securing 67,050 votes, or 28%.

Ben Adams takes over from Conservative Matthew Ellis, who stood down from the role of Staffordshire PFCC after being in the position since its creation in 2012.

Speaking after being re-elected at Burton Town Hall on Friday 7 May, Ben Adams said: "Thank you for voting for me, first of all, in considerable numbers. I'll be doing my utmost to reward that trust you've placed in me and show our police and fire service that we have their backs.

"My key pledge is those 250 extra officers, and they'll be visible. We'll see those in every part of the county. That was the main request from the public.

The other one is about improved communication. They like to feel they can get through and report a problem very quickly so we'll be looking at that from the onset.

"And then, I think with good reason, some concern about young people being dragged into drug and gang crime."
