Detectives are appealing for witnesses and video footage following an armed robbery at a betting shop in Winsford.

At around 12.20 on Thursday 4 August an unknown man entered the Bet Fred store on Jubilee Way.

The man, who was possibly armed with a firearm, threatened staff and demanded money behind the counter.

He then left the shop via the main entrance with a quantity of cash.

The man then got onto bicycle and cycled into a service area at the back of Argos, travelling towards Dingle Lane.

The suspect was described as a white man with a Manchester accent, around 6’ 3” tall and of stocky build.

He was wearing a black face mask, glasses, an orange long sleave high vis jacket, with a blue hoody underneath, dark trousers, and a black and green baseball cap. The man was also carrying a black gym bag.

Detective Sergeant Ross Hamilton, of Northwich CID, said:“While there were no reports of any injuries the store workers have understandably been left shaken by their ordeal and we are committed to doing all that we can trace the person responsible.

“The incident occurred in a busy shopping precinct and as part of our enquiries we are keen to hear from anyone who was in the area and believes they may have witnessed the incident or seen anything suspicious or unusual in the area around the time of the robbery.

“The same goes for anyone with any CCTV or dashcam footage that may be relevant to our investigation."
