Banwell Fire near M5 cause determined as "accidental" by firefighters

Firefighters have determined the cause of a blaze in Banwell yesterday (27th August) as "accidental."
Crews were called at 3.32pm and found three single storey units well alight, seven cars, containers, welding units, a fork life and a large quantity of tyres also involved.
Eight fire appliances, one turntable ladder, one command unit, one welfare unit, the drone team, one high volume pump and a hose layer were used to extinguish the blaze.
A number of residents were evacuated during the height of the incident, although these have all now been allowed to return to their homes.
No people were injured in the incident.
In a statement, Avon Fire and Rescue added: 'After thorough fire inspection, the cause of the fire has been determined accidental.
'Crews re-attended the scene at 07:00 (28.08.2021), using thermal imaging cameras to identify any hotspots.
'No hotspots were found and the scene was left in the hands of the owner.'
