Woman injured after being attacked by two dogs in St Helens
Police say she suffered serious arm injuries
A woman has been seriously injured after being attacked by two dogs in St Helens.
Emergency services were called to Leach Lane at 11pm on Monday night, with the dogs being taken by the police.
The victim was taken to hospital, having sustained serious injuries to her arm. She is now in a stable condition.
Police say they are yet to determine the breed of the dogs, and have asked anyone with information to come forward.
Detective Inspector Barbara Hebden said: “This incident has left a woman with significant injuries to her arms and it would have been an extremely painful and traumatic experience.
“Residents who live on the street attempted to help the victim during the attack and I thank them for their brave actions.
“We are now appealing for anyone who has information to come forward.
“We have a dedicated team who review all cases concerning dangerous dogs, and are keen to speak to the witnesses who saw the incident.
"I want to emphasize that dog owners need to be mindful of their dogs' behaviours at all times, particularly when they are in the care of others. If owners or anyone who is looking after any dogs that are liable to be aggressive please make sure they are in a protected space and on a lead or muzzled if out in public.”
Anyone who saw anything is asked to contact Merseyside Police on 101.
