Hundreds of homes in Blackburn with Darwen have been left without water over the scorching hot weekend which saw temperatures reach the likes of 30 degrees celcius.

United Utilities say they've been working to restore supplies to people in the BB1, BB2 and BB3 areas after a water main burst on Saturday morning (13th August) at Old Farmside.

They say supplies should be back on but the repairs have been complex due to the water main being 5m underground.

Bottled water stations, which were opened on Sunday morning, have reopened this morning for customers who might still have issues with their water supply. These can be found at Witton Park and Pleasington Playing fields.

They also say any customers impacted will receive proactive compensation once the burst has been repaired.

The latest update from United Utilities states:

"We are continuing to work on the complex mains repair in your area, and have restored pressure to the majority of our customers.

"For those customers still affected our bottled water stations in the below locations will re-open at 8am.

"Witton Park, BB2 2TS

"Pleasington Playing Fields, BB2 5LE

"We thank you for your continued patience and are working hard to get your taps flowing again and thank you for your understanding."
