Tributes pouring in for Blackburn teenager

A 14-year-old Blackburn girl described as ‘vibrant, beautiful and funny’ has died.
Megan, of Hurstwood Avenue, passed away on Friday in the intensive care unit of Sheffield Children’s Hospital surrounded by family. She leaves mum Wendy Charnley, dad Lee Hoyle, brother Lee Charnley, 25, and sisters Becky Charnley, 28, and six-year old Poppy Hoyle.
Megan Hoyle’s loved ones said they’ve taken comfort from the teenagers ‘final act’ of organ donation, which had given the ‘gift of life’ to at least three others. Mr Charnley said the family were able to donate Megan's kidneys, lungs, and liver.
She was described by her brother as someone who ‘brought joy and smiles to all she met’.
He said: “Megan died after becoming seriously ill last week.
“Our grief at this time is overwhelming.
“She was bright, funny and full of joy.
“She left positive thoughts and memories with all who met her.
“We have been comforted by the dozens of messages telling us what a gap Megan’s passing will leave in her life.
“Almost all of them describe her as a vibrant, beautiful and funny girl who showed everyone kindness.
“We are also taking positivity that her last act was to donate her organs.
“It’s our understanding that at least three families have had a loved one saved by this gift from Megan.
“That’s three families who will not have to go through the torment that is happening to us.”
Megan’s sister Becky added that the youngster loved music and was a passionate supporter of Blackburn Rovers and Blackburn Hawks Ice Hockey. She said:
“Megan had a wicked and playful sense of humour.
“She would always make people smile and laugh. She liked simple pleasures and her favourite treat was a trip to McDonald’s for chicken nuggets.
“I can’t believe my beautiful sister has gone.”
Megan’s death has prompted an outpouring of grief from her many school friends who have posted on the site gonetoosoon.org.
Molly Corbally said: “Megan, you were such a lovely girl and it’s such a shock to us all.
“You could not say or do anything bad if you tried.”
Charlie Leigh said: “Megan you were so brave and strong and I’m so proud of you.
“I remember all our good memories.
“RIP beautiful until we meet again. I miss and love you.”
The coroner has been informed of Megan’s death and an inquest will be held in due course.
