Blackpool Pleasure Beach has announced the return of the Valhalla ride.

The indoor water and fire ride has been closed since the autumn of 2019 for a refurb and fans have long been asking when they can go on it again.

The reopening's been delayed a number of times because of issues including the pandemic

Andy Highgate from the Pleasure Beach team thinks the reaction to relaunch has been amazing:

"I think people are really excited about the ride, hopefully they're as excited as I am.

"It's great to give them the information so hopefully they can come and give it a go soon."

Blackpool Pleasure Beach is back open on Saturday, with the main season getting underway from April.

CEO Amanda Thompson says it won't be too long until it's soon available and she's thanked everyone for being patient:

"We have tried and tried to get this ride open.

"We tried last year, we failed. We tried the year before and COVID had an impact, but we're there now though and hopefully we'll be testing the ride sometime early to mid April."

Amanda says the ride's a key part in boosting the local area's tourism sector in the weeks and months to come:

"We're all out of COVID and ready to have fun again.

"I think everyone went on their holidays last year and they're now ready to celebrate England and go on holiday here again.

"We're looking forward to welcoming them back and really entertaining them."
