UPDATE: Murder investigation into death of 8-DAY-OLD baby

Police are investigating the murder of an newborn baby in East Lancashire.

She was just eight-days-old when she was found unresponsive in a house in Nelson.

Officers were called to Dover Street last Wednesday to help baby Ava Grace Nolan.

She was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital - but sadly didn't survive

Post-mortem tests have since revealed she died from a serious head injury.

A 26-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder -

They've been bailed while police continue their investigation.

Detective Chief Inspector Jill Johnston from the Force Major Investigation Team (FMIT) said: “Firstly our thoughts remain with the family of the child at this extremely sad and distressing time.

“Our investigation into the baby’s death is on-going and we are doing all we can to get to the truth of what happened to her. We have a team of specially trained officers conducting a number of enquiries and supporting the family.”
