There'll be increased police patrols in Preston after a street fight left a man and a woman in hospital with serious injuries.

Officers were called to reports of people fighting with weapons just before 9pm on Sunday evening on Acregate Lane.

Six people from Preston have been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and remain in custody.

Lancashire police are treating it as an isolated incident. They say there's no wider threat to the public and that the increased reassurance patrols over the coming days are a precaution.

Anyone with information, CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage is asked to call 101, quoting log 1698 of July 25, 2021.
