Man in critical condition after suspected assault in Preston

A man's in a critical condition in hospital after a suspected assault in Preston City Centre.

The man in his 20s, was found with head injuries on Harris Street in the early hours of this morning (12th August).

Police have launched an investigation and enquiries are ongoing.

Det Chief Inspector Rach Higson, from the Force Major Investigation Team: “This incident has left a young man with serious injuries and my thoughts are with his loved ones at this time.

“While our investigation is at a very early stage, we believe that the victim may have been involved in an altercation with two men on Harris Street and we are making efforts to trace those individuals.

“I have a team of detectives and staff who are following a number of lines of enquiry, including looking at CCTV in the city centre, to assist with tracing the males.

“I would appeal to anyone who either witnessed an altercation or who saw anything suspicious in the Birley Street junction of Harris Street area around 02:45 hours this morning to come forward and contact us so we can establish what has happened to leave this young man with such serious injuries.”
