Police appealing for witnesses after man assaulted in Blackpool
Man in his 20s was attacked on Cropper Road on Monday night
We are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward after a man was assaulted in Blackpool.
Police were called to Cropper Road in the town at around 8.15pm on Monday March 21st to a report a man had been attacked with a wooden weapon.
A man in his 20s was taken to hospital with a serious leg injury which has required surgery.
An investigation has been launched and enquiries are ongoing.
Detectives have made five arrests in connection with the incident and we are now appealing for anyone with information or anyone with dashcam or CTV footage of the incident, or from around the area at the time, to come forward to help with our investigation.
DC Laura Hitchen from Blackpool CID said: “This incident has left a man with some serious injuries. I would appeal to anyone who saw what happened, has captured any footage or who has any information at all which they think could help to come forward urgently.”
Those involved, thought to be a group of around six men, left the scene in multiple unconfirmed vehicles.
A number of other vehicles, including several cars, a quad bike and a dirt bike, were seen to drive past the incident location and we would like to speak to these individuals who may be able to assist us with our enquiries.
Those arrested include: three men, aged 53, 30 and 25, and a 51-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding and robbery. The men have since been released under investigation and the woman was released with no further action.
A fourth man, 24, was arrested on suspicion of affray and is currently in custody.
