Lancashire Police are appealing for witness after a man was pronounced dead near Blackpool Promenade this morning following a collision.

They believe the man, who was in his 30s from Fleetwood, had been holding onto the outside of a moving taxi before he was thrown from the vehicle towards a car travelling in the opposite direction.

He suffered multiple injuries and was pronounced dead by emergency services after 12.20am this morning.

The driver of the taxi, 58, wasn't injured but he has now been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

And the driver of the car travelling on the opposite side of the road, 69, has also been arrested, on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

A third man aged 45 and from Blackpool was later arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who has dash cam footage to come forward and help them with their investigation.

"Our thoughts are very much with the man involved and his family at this very sad and difficult time," Temporary Sergeant Martin Wilcock of Lancashire Police said.

"While we have made three arrests, this is a complex investigation and we need people to come forward to tell us what they saw.

"Any information, no matter how seemingly insignificant or small, could assist our enquiries."
