Manhunt underway after Skelmersdale stabbing

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was attacked and stabbed close to a shopping centre in Skelmersdale.

Between 1.30pm and 1.50pm on Thursday (June 28), the victim, a 20-year-old man, was walking on a footbridge close to the Concourse Shopping Centre in Southway when he was approached from behind by several men.

The group stabbed the victim in the back and both arms, with the man taken to Aintree Hospital for treatment. His injuries are serious but not life-threatening.

Detectives are appealing for information following the incident and are keen to speak to any witnesses.

Det Sgt Paul Mulrooney, of Skelmersdale CID, said:

“This was a shocking and brutal attack in broad daylight.

“The victim has been targeted close to a busy shopping centre and we believe a number of people will have seen the offenders involved.

“If you have any information which can assist with our enquiries, please contact us immediately.”
