Man seriously injured after assault in Skelmersdale

The 37 year old's been taken to hospital after the incident on Easter Sunday morning

A 37 year old man is in a serious condition in hospital after he was assaulted in Skelmersdale.

Police were called at around 7.30am on Easter Sunday morning, to reports that a man with serious injuries had been found near Ferndale, Birch Green.

Their enquiries suggest the incident happened near to Firbeck.

The victim was taken to Aintree Hospital.

Officers have launched an investigation and enquiries are underway to identify those responsible.

Detective Sergeant Di Higham, of West CID, said:

“This incident has left a man with some very serious injuries which we believe at this stage are the result of an assault. I would appeal to anyone who may have information which could help us piece together what has happened and identify the offenders to get in touch.”
