Man left with serious injuries after Skelmersdale shooting

A man has been left with serious injuries after a shooting in Skelmersdale.

Emergency services say they rushed to the scene on Peel Road yesterday evening, with reports of a large police presence remaining in the area.

A man was rushed to hospital with gunshot wounds, and police say he is currently receiving treatment.

In an update, posted on the social media site X, Skelmersdale Police said: "You may have noticed an increased police presence in and around the Peel Road area this evening, and we want to let you know why.

"We were called at around 7:35pm this evening ( Thursday, February 8 ) to reports of a firearms discharge on Peel Road, Skelmersdale.

"Emergency services attended the scene with one man having suffered serious gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital. No arrests have been made at this time."

Lancashire Police have now launched an investigation, and want to speak to anyone who might have witnessed anything, or have any information.

The force can be contacted on 101 quoting log 1089 of February 8.

We have also been told to expect more police patrols in the area over the coming days.
