Bus driver from Preston jailed for causing death by dangerous driving
The crash killed a North Yorkshire school worker in 2021
A bus driver has been sentenced to four years and eight months for causing death by dangerous driving following the death of a North Yorkshire school worker.
25 year old Jonathan Eaves - from Moss Nook Drive in Preston - pleaded guilty in December, and has appeared at York Crown Court today (Thursday 18 January 2023).
The crash happened in January 2021 on the A19 near Tollerton during rush hour when an empty bus collided with a Audi A1.
The driver of the car - 27 year old Saskia Bets from Easingwold - was taken to hospital but died later that night.
Following her death - her family paid tribute saying her compassion and intelligence made everybody's life brighter and she was kindness in it's purist form.
Eaves has also been disqualified from driving for 6 years and 4 months.
