Man dies after assault in Great Harwood
Police are appealing for witnesses

Lancashire Police are appealing for witnesses and footage following an assault in Great Harwood.
Officers were called to an address in Wordsworth Drive following reports a 28-year-old man had been assaulted in a carpark in the Towngate area of the town between 1am and 1.40am yesterday (April 24).
The man suffered injuries to his head and back.
They were called back to Wordsworth Drive at 3.52pm to reports that the victim of the assault was unresponsive. He was taken to hospital where he was sadly pronounced deceased.
The man’s death is currently being treated as unexplained and a Home Office post mortem examination will take place in due course.
A 29-year-old man from Great Harwood has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody at this time.
DI Kate Kennedy, of East CID, said: “First and foremost my thoughts remain with the deceased man’s family at this difficult time.
“We are investigating the circumstances that led to his death and would ask that anybody with information or footage, particularly relating to the assault in Towngate, to contact the police as soon as possible.
“Although we have made an arrest, I want to make it clear that we are very much keeping an open mind at this stage.”
