Motorcyclist seriously injured after crash on M61 in Lancashire

He lost control of the bike and fell onto the carriageway

Police are appealing for witnesses after a motorcyclist was injured following a motorway collision.

Officers were called around 8.50am yesterday (Sunday, August 22) after a man riding a chopper motorbike northbound on the M61, close to Junction 9, lost control and fell onto the carriageway.

The man, aged 45 and from Clitheroe, suffered serious chest and shoulder injuries. He was taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment.

The motorway was closed for more than three hours while accident investigators attended the scene.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the incident.

Sgt Andy Halliwell, of Lancashire Police’s Tactical Operations, said: “We are urging anyone who saw what happened to come forward.
