Laura Nuttall, the courageous advocate for brain cancer awareness, who defied all odds by completing her university education in Manchester despite a terminal diagnosis has passed away.

Laura and her family tirelessly raised substantial funds for ground-breaking treatment, and captured the hearts pf people across the country.

At the age of 23, Laura, who initially dismissed her symptoms as mere "freshers' flu" when she first fell ill half a decade ago. Her mother, Nicola, attests that even in the face of death, Laura showed the same unwavering determination she displayed in life.

In a tweet this morning, her mother Nicola wrote:

"I'm heartbroken to share the news that we lost our beautiful Laura in the early hours of this morning.

"She was fierce & tenacious to the end & it was truly the honour of my life to be her mum.

"We are devastated at the thought of life without our girl, she was a force of nature"

In 2018, Laura received a devastating diagnosis of stage 4 glioblastoma during her first year pursuing an international relations degree at University College London.

Despite being given a prognosis of only 12 months to live, this remarkable advocate underwent surgeries, endured chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and eventually returned to her studies at the University of Manchester.

Last summer, she achieved graduated with honours (a 2:1) in politics, philosophy, and economics (PPE).

The family came to know comedian Peter Kay through a friend of Nicola's dad, Mark. The Bolton comedian would visit the family, and in November last year took them out for a meal.

He also supported the families fundraising efforts with proceeds from some of his gigs going to the family's cause.
