Lancashire dancer dies in US after eating biscuit
Orla Baxendale went into anaphylactic shock after consuming a cookie from a store in Connecticut
A dancer from Lancashire has died after having an allergic reaction from eating a biscuit in the US.
Orla Baxendale, who's originally from the Rossendale Valley but lived in New York, suffered anaphylactic shock after eating a cookie in Connecticut earlier this month.
She moved to the states in 2018 as a scholarship student at The Ailey School, where she studied dance.
It's reported that the 25 year old had eaten a cookie at a social gathering which contained peanuts, but did not list nuts as an ingredient.
The product has since been recalled - but the supplier and supermarket chain involved are disputing who's responsible.
Orla originally studied at Chantry School, a dance specialist in Grantham. In a statement they said: "We're devastated to hear of the loss of Orla Baxendale - an extremely talented dancer and absolutely lovely woman.
"Our thoughts and love are with Orla's family and friends at this time"
On instagram, Go 2 Talent said: "It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our GTA family member Orla Baxendale. We will always cherish her effortless talents, her beaming spirit, and her exceptionally kind heart.
"You will never be forgotten, rest in peace dear Orla."
An investigation is now underway by US authorities.
