Investigation underway into blaze near Blackpool seafront

The building partially collapsed during the fire in a town centre shop

Firefighters have tackled a large blaze near Blackpool's seafront.

The fire broke out at a shop in the town centre at around 2pm yesterday (26th December).

Lancashire Fire and Resue say eight fire engines were sent to the scene - there is a road closure still in place between the junctions of Corporation St and Coronation St, with affected businesses remaining closed.

People are being asked to avoid the area while the operation and investigation work continues.

Officers are today working to make the scene safe, conduct searches and preserve the scene for the fire investigation.
