Investigation after police van and car crash in Blackpool
The police conduct watchdog is looking into what happened as the police van responded to an emergency call.
A car carrying three people has collided with a police van which was responding to an emergency call in Blackpool.
The Lancashire Police Peugeot van collided with a Hyundai Tucson as it went through red lights at the junction of Park Road an Condor Gorve at around 9.40pm on Saturday 30 March.
It's thought two of the passengers suffered serious injuries, and they have been kept in hospital for treatment.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is carrying out an independent investigation into the involvement of Lancashire Police prior to the collision.
They say: "We were notified by the force shortly after the collision. IOPC investigators have begun to gather information which has been collected from the scene, including street CCTV and police vehicle data.
"We declared an independent investigation at 10.35am on Sunday 31 March and plan to meet with the family of the injured people as soon as possible to explain our role."
