House collapse after suspected gas explosion in Clayton-Le-Woods

Eight fire engines, a search and rescue team, an aerial ladder platform and the air support unit are at a suspected gas explosion involving a house on Kirkby Avenue in Clayton-le-Woods.

An aerial appliance is at the scene

Lancashire Police and North West Ambulance Service are also there with their Hazardous Area Response Team and an operational commander.

Residents are being asked to close windows and doors if nearby to avoid being affected by any smoke.

A number of homes nearby have been evacuated and a large cordon is in place.

Road closures are also in place and people are being advised to avoid the area.
