Elderly woman dies after being hit by van in Whitworth
The pedestrian in her 70s died at the scene
An elderly woman has died after being hit by a van in Whitworth.
It happened on Market Street at around 2.30 yesterday. The lady in her 70s was trying to cross the road, when she was hit by a Fiat Fiorina van.
Emergency services attended but she died at the scene. Police have now launched an investigation into the incident.
Sgt Pete Fyans, of the Road Policing Unit, said: “My thoughts are with the loved ones of the lady who has sadly lost her life as a result of this collision. I would appeal to anyone who saw the collision or who may have CCTV, dashcam or Ring doorbell or mobile footage to get in touch.”
