Cat put to sleep after being found dumped in Preston recycling bin
The severely ill cat sadly couldn't be saved.
The RSPCA is appealing for information after a trembling cat was found dumped in a recycling bin in Preston.
The cat was found by a member of the public in a blue recycling bin at the side of the road near the nursery in Stonygate on Thursday March 25. They took the pet home and then alerted the animal welfare charity.
Animal rescuer Inspector Alison Fletcher was sent to the scene and she rushed the black semi-long haired cat to the RSPCA Greater Manchester Animal Hospital.
The cat was in a collapsed state and was unable to stand. She was trembling constantly and the vet believes this was due to a long term illness.
The vet administered medicines and monitored the cat for several hours hoping she would pull through but she was gravely ill so it was decided the kindest thing to do was to put her to sleep to end her suffering.
Now Alison is keen to trace the owner of the cat, which was not microchipped, and to find the person responsible for this “callous” incident.
She said: "This poor cat was in a terrible state - she was trembling and weak and was obviously very frightened and in need of help.
"It is hard to comprehend how anyone can do this to a pet. It appears they decided to put her in the bin like worthless rubbish in her hour of need rather than seek veterinary treatment for her.
"I am keen to find the person who owned this cat to find out what happened to her and am appealing for anyone who recognises her and knows who she belongs to to get in touch.
"I am also keen to find anyone who may have witnessed the cat being placed callously in the bin.”"
