Burnley man jailed for knuckle duster attack
Lee Green attacked the same man twice in the space of four days
A Burnley man has been jailed after using a knuckle duster to attack a dogwalker.
It was the second time that Lee Green attacked him in the space of four days.
The first assault was outside Burnley's football ground on 7 August 2021.
The victim was with his two children when Green shouted abuse and pushed him in the face.
On 10 August, Green approached him in Lockyer Avenue Park and hit him in the face with a metal object.
He suffered a fractured eye socket and damage to his facial muscles.
The weapon was never found but Dr Hugo Haines, a facial injuries expert from the National Crime Agency, said the injuries could only have been caused by a knuckle-duster.
Det Con Gemma Anderson of Lancashire Police said:
"A challenge we faced in this case was not being able to retrieve the weapon used.
"Undeterred by that, we carried out an expeditious investigation, with Dr Haines providing his expert professional opinion.
"The victim has expressed his gratitude for the effort and time we put into the investigation, which resulted in him being able to move on in his life without living in fear of the defendant Lee Green."
Just before he was due to go on trial, Green, 35, of Berridge Avenue, Burnley, pleaded guilty to section 20 wounding, a section 39 assault and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
He has been sentenced to 27 months in jail.
