Body found in the search for missing Shannon Canning
She hasn't been seen since leaving her home in Lancaster on Friday
Police investigating the disappearance of Shannon Canning in Lancaster say they have found a body.
The 24 year old hasn't been seen since she left her home in the early hours of Friday 19th May.
She hasn't made contact with any friends or family, leading to a full search by Lancashire Police.
Yesterday, specialist search teams were called to the River Lune, near Halton, and later confirmed that a body was recovered. Whilst formal identification is yet to take place, officers believe the body to be that of Shannon.
In a statement released, Lancashire Police said: "We can confirm that we were called today (May 24) at around 4:20pm to a report that a body had been found in the River Lune, near Halton.
"Specialist search teams have subsequently attended the area and can sadly confirm that the body of a woman has been recovered.
"Although formal identification has yet to take place, we believe the body to be that of missing Shannon Canning."
