Four Blackpool supporters charged after disorder during Blackburn game
Blackpool Police says it will not tolerate any disorder at football matches in the county
Four Blackpool supporters have been charged after allegations of missiles being thrown at the Blackpool v Blackburn game at the end of August.
Police were told, at half-time, of disorder in an away area between the North and East stands.
It was claimed that supporters, who were separated by a wooden fence, were throwing missiles.
After looking at CCTV, police identified a number of people and four Blackpool supporters were arrested and charged.
PC Stacey Hardy, of Blackpool Police, said:
"We will not allow or tolerate any disorder at football matches in our county.
“Most match-going fans go to games to enjoy the game but, sadly, the behaviour of a few let the majority down."
Officers think more were involved in the disorder. They're working with Blackpool FC to try and find them.
A Blackpool FC spokesperson added:
"Blackpool FC fully supports any action taken by police to prevent disorder and ensure the safety of fans.
“The club will continue working with police and absolutely will not tolerate any violent behaviour from supporters."
The quartet who have been charged are:
Donald Pollock, 31, of Malvern Avenue, Blackpool.
Jack Oldrid, 33, of Beattock Place, Bispham.
Edward Burke, 27, of Lune Grove, Blackpool.
Christopher Jones, 21, of Chistlehurst Avenue, Blackpool.
They are due to appear at Blackpool Magistrates' Court on 18 October.
