Armed robbers target security guard in Blackpool

Detectives are appealing for information following a cash in transit robbery in Blackpool today (Thursday, July 21).
Lancashire Police were called around 1.20pm to a report of an armed robbery outside the Co-Op store in Dickson Road.
It was reported a man had assaulted a security guard with a hammer, taking a cash box, before getting into an Audi car driven by a second man and making off from the scene.
The security guard was not seriously injured.
An investigation is underway and enquiries ongoing.
Det Insp Steve Montgomery, of Blackpool Police, said: “We are keen to speak to witnesses after a cash in transit robbery in Blackpool today.
“We are very keen to speak to you if you saw what happened or have any information which can assist our enquiries.
“If you were in the Dickson Road area around 1.15pm, or saw the offenders making off from the scene, please get in touch.
“Furthermore, if you were driving by and have dashboard mounted camera footage, we would urge you to contact us.”
