Detectives investigating an incident where a 17-year-old boy was stabbed in Blackburn are appealing for information and dashcam footage.

Police were called to Lawrence Street, Blackburn, at 5.42pm on Tuesday (April 20) to reports of an assault.

Officers attended and found the teenager had been assaulted on Wensley Road and suffered a single stab wound to the back.

Despite extensive enquiries no arrest has been made at this stage and officers are now appealing for any witnesses or anybody with CCTV, mobile phone or dashcam footage which could assist the investigation to come forward.

DC Gemma Anderson, of Blackburn CID, said: "This was a nasty attack which could easily have resulted in the victim losing his life. Thankfully, his injuries were not serious.

"I know this incident will have caused the community some concern and would like to re-assure them that this is being treated as an isolated incident. Patrols have been stepped up in the area.

"As part of our enquiries, we are now appealing for anybody with information or footage which could assist the investigation to contact the police as soon as possible."
