An aircraft has had to make an emergency landing on Blackpool beach.

Pictures on social media appear to show it being lifted from the beachfront onto the promenade last night.

The aircraft, a Robin R-2120U Alpha light aircraft, reported had to make a force landing after an engine failure.

Registration records shows that it is owned by a High-G Flight Training, which is based at Blackpool Airport.

It is not known whether anyone has been injured. We have approached Lancashire Police and the owners of the aircraft for comment.
