A Preston vet is reassuring dog owners in the city after a dog died from a rare disease.

The dog reportedly picked Alabama Rot disease whilst walking in woods in Fulwood last week.

The Anderson Moores Vetinary Specialists posted this message on their Facebook page:

"Alabama Rot update: Sadly, one further dog has been confirmed as having died as a result of cutaneous and renal glomerular vasculopathy. The dog was from Preston, Lancashire. We are trying to obtain further walking information from the local veterinary practice. We will continue to provide updates via our Facebook page over the coming weeks".

The e-coli related disease causes cuts to appear on the dog's paws and faces and can lead to kidney failure.
