Part of Preston bus station to remain closed for "foreseeable future"
A section of Preston Bus Station will remain closed for the foreseeable future after high winds shattered several glass windows.
A second building survey is taking place on Tuesday afternoon to assess whether the whole western side of the station needs repair work.
A number of glass panes were damaged after the high winds on Sunday night.
Pedestrian access from the city centre is only possible through the subways and buses have been moved to stands on the eastern side of the station. A spokesman for Lancashire County Council, said: "We're sorry for the inconvenience to passengers and bus operators, but have decided to close the side of the bus station which has been damaged while we make sure it is safe. "We'll be working as quickly as we can to make a full assessment of the damage, and hope to be able to bring all the stands back into use as soon as possible. "Until then we'll have extra staff on to help redirect people and will be working closely with operators to keep bus services running as efficiently as possible."
It's expected to remain closed until at least the end of this week.
