John Partridge is on Celebrity Big Brother to pay for mum’s Alzheimer’s care
80-year-old Bridget requires constant care
Former Eastenders actor John Partridge has revealed he’s taking part in Celebrity Big Brother house to pay for his beloved mum’s Alzheimer’s care.
80-year-old Bridget requires constant care while she battles the chronic neurodegenerative disease with son John, 44, and his family footing the bill.
Speaking to heat about why he’s in CBB, John, who played Christian Clarke in Eastenders for six years, said: “She did live with us as a family, and in March we felt that we could no longer meet her needs, and she moved into a facility.
“That’s why I’m here. I’m not ashamed of it. I don’t care what people think.”
Asked about his mum’s illness, John added: “It is brutal and it is cruel and I have nothing good to say about it.”
John was one of the few contestants to receive cheers as they entered the Celebrity Big Brother house live on television last night.
He admirably voted for himself and Darren Day to enter “the box”, where they won’t get the same luxuries as the other housemates.
The pair then picked Danniella Westbrook, Winston McKenzie and Christopher Maloney to have their suitcases banished.
