Two men have appeared in court after a police officer was seriously injured in Wakefield earlier this week.

23 year old Asim Khan, of no fixed address, and 19 year old Lee Fullalove, of Fagley Road in Bradford, were both arrested after the incident on Great George Street on Monday.

Road traffic officers stopped a car on suspicion of it being involved in drug dealing offences.

The vehicle then hit one of the officers - leaving them with a broken leg.

Both Khan and Fullalove have appeared at Leeds Magistrates Court charged with Possession With Intent to Supply Class A drugs.

Khan was also charged with seriously injuring a police officer through dangerous driving and with driving without insurance or a licence.

Two other men - aged 47 and 39 - have been released under investigation.
