Murder investigation launched after death of man in Rothwell
Police were called on Saturday night
A murder investigation has been launched in Leeds after the death of a man in Rothwell.
Police say they were called to Smithson Street on Saturday night.
Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
A police statement said:
"Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in Leeds.
"At about 10pm on Saturday, police were notified by the ambulance service of a man in his forties receiving medical assistance in Smithson Street, Rothwell.
"The man was taken to hospital where he was sadly pronounced deceased a short time later.
"Enquiries into the man’s death have established that there was a disturbance in the area prior to the man needing medical attention.
"A 48-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody at this time."
