Man dies in hospital after being punched into road in Pontefract and hit by car
Luke Thompson was found seriously injured in Front Street earlier this month
A man who police believe was punched into a road in Pontefract before being hit by a car has died in hospital.
Luke Thompson, who was 25, was found injured in Front Street at around 04:30GMT on Sunday 19 November.
He died in hospital 10 days later.
Two men in their 20s arrested on suspicion of causing wounding with intent have been released on bail.
Police have also questioned two teenagers, aged 17 and 18, on suspicion of causing injury by dangerous driving.
Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle, who is leading the investigation, said:
“We are continuing to investigate what took place in Front Street in the early hours of Sunday, 19 November and are keen to hear from anyone who can assist with our enquiries.
“A young man has now died from his injuries and we need to understand what happened.
“We would also ask again for motorists with dashcams who were in that area of Pontefract at around that time to check and see if they have any footage that could assist our investigation.”
