An investigation is underway after a serious assault in Calderdale.

Officers say a man was injured after it happened in a pub in Halifax.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said:

"Police are appealing for witnesses after a man suffered serious injuries in a pub in Calderdale.

"The man is believed to have been assaulted in the toilets of The Barum Top in Rawson Street, Halifax at about 10pm on Saturday (24 June).

"He suffered serious facial injuries and was taken to hospital for further treatment.

"Calderdale District CID is investigating the incident and can be contacted on 101 or via the livechat facility on the West Yorkshire Police website."
