There's yellow weather warnings in place for ice across West Yorkshire, after Storm Arwen brought heavy snowfall.

Hundreds of homes are still without power, mostly in the Bradford, Huddersfield and Halifax areas.

Meanwhile, forecasters are warning temperatures could drop as low as minus 10C in parts of the UK later, on what's expected to be the coldest night of the season.

Homes without power

Hundreds of homes in West Yorkshire have been left without power because of Storm Arwen.

Northern Powergrid have brought in an extra 100 engineers to work across Yorkshire, with more than 240,000 customers affected.

Rod Gardner, Northern Powergrid’s Major Incident Manager, said: “Intelligence from our helicopter inspections has illustrated the scale of impact on our network. The impact from Storm Arwen has been one of the worst we’ve experienced in the last 20 years.

“Despite this we have restored more than 200,000 customers supplies and our dedicated teams will not stop until all customers are restored, and our network is returned to full strength."

Forecasters predict coldest night of the season

Forecaster have warned the "coldest night of the season" is set to hit parts of the UK, with temperatures dropping to as low as minus 10C.

The Met Office has said it expects to see the mercury fall below zero in many parts of the country, including in cities such as London, where it could be minus 2C (28.4F) in the late hours of Sunday.

It comes after Storm Arwen wreaked havoc across much of the UK, bringing strong winds, sleet and snow.

Met Office forecaster Tom Morgan said: "As Storm Arwen is clearing out to Europe, a cold northerly flow of wind has been left behind in the UK, causing some of the bitterly cold temperatures we've seen.

"Parts of Scotland and northern England, where snow is on the ground, will be very cold again tonight, with the temperature certainly falling below zero and even as low as minus 10C (14F), which would make it the coldest night of the season so far.

"Even if you do live in a city, you can expect to be scraping frost, ice or even snow off your cars on Monday morning."

Trapped pub-goers hold karaoke night

Meanwhile, staff at a pub in North Yorkshire cut off by snow have held a karaoke night, with guests unable to leave for a third night.

61 people became trapped in the Tan Hill Inn in the Yorkshire Dales on Friday, but some guests say they "don't want to leave".

Many have been sleeping on makeshift beds and mattresses on the floor, but they have been treated to films on a projector screen, a quiz night and a buffet meal amongst other comforts.

Oasis tribute band Noasis has been providing musical entertainment as the musicians have been stranded since their gig on Friday at the pub - which at 1,732 feet (528m) above sea level is the highest in the UK.

The pub's general manager, Nicola Townsend said: "It's just been lovely and everyone is in really good spirits... it's a really good atmosphere.

"They've formed quite a friendship... like a big family is the best way I can describe it."

On Saturday evening, guests thanked the seven members of staff stuck inside with them by presenting them with a jar filled with around Ă‚ÂŁ300 in cash.

On Sunday, the pub laid on a traditional lunch before guests and staff work together to decorate the bar for Christmas and prepare for an evening of karaoke.
