Two men have been arrested in Huddersfield after another man was taken to hospital
Two men have been arrested near to Huddersfield after another man was assaulted on Monday night.
Police believe a weapon was involved in the apparent attack, and the man is currently being treated for non-life threatening injuries. Two men, 29 and 27, have been arrested after officers carried out searches around the Deighton area on Wednesday.
Police were carrying out stop and search patrols around the area where the alleged assault happened, but have not found a weapon.
Inspector Graham Dyson (Huddersfield NPT) said: “NPT officers and colleagues from Operation Jemlock carried out enhanced patrols in the Deighton area on Wednesday night to reassure residents following Monday’s serious assault on Keldergate.
“Colleagues from Kirklees CID continue to investigate that incident for which two men have now been arrested and are being questioned.”
He added: “Due to the nature of Monday’s attack officers patrolling on Wednesday were given Section 60 authorisation which temporarily provided them with increased powers to conduct searches for weapons.
“My neighbourhood officers will now continue with reassurance patrols across the area and along with partners we will continue to support the community and listen to their concerns."
