Two people injured in Truro stabbing

A man has been arrested and a search is taking place to find suspects in connection with an attack yesterday afternoon

A man has been arrested over a stabbing in Truro, which has left two people with serious injuries.

Emergency services were called to reports of a serious assault in St Austell Street shortly before 5pm yesterday (Saturday 17th August).

A 31-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man were found with serious stab wounds. They were taken to hospital for treatment.

A 42-year-old man from Truro has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm without intent. He remains in police custody.

A scene guard and police cordon have been in place while enquiries have been taking place at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing to locate outstanding suspects.

Detective Inspector Steve Applewhite from Devon and Cornwall Police said:

“At the moment there is an increased police presence in the area, and we will be carrying out high visibility patrols to provide reassurance to the community.

“I understand that an incident of this nature will cause concern, but I can confirm that this incident is being treated as an isolated incident and we believe that those involved are known to each other.

“As part of our investigation we are appealing for any witnesses who were in the area of the Trafalgar Roundabout to please get in touch. We also ask that anyone in the area who may have relevant dashcam, doorbell or CCTV between 4.30pm and 5.30pm on Saturday 17 August, to contact police.”
