Police have charged a boy with murder after a teenager was stabbed in Birmingham city centre earlier this year.

The 16-year-old has been charged with the murder of Muhammad Hassam Ali, 17, in Victoria Square on 20 January.

The teenager was arrested in January and has been on police bail while investigations continued.

He was charged yesterday.

He will appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court today (Wednesday).

Detectives believe Muhammad was stabbed in a case of mistaken identity.

A second boy, aged 15, was charged with murder in the days after the attack. He denied murder and possessing a bladed article and remains in custody.
