Man jailed for causing death of two teenagers in Swansea crash

A man has been jailed for six years for causing the deaths of two teenagers in Swansea.
19-year-old Owain Hammett-George, from Birchgrove, pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and one count of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
19-year-olds Ben Rogers and Kaitlyn Davies died after Hammett-George's luxury sports car crashed into a concrete pillar.
The crash took place on the B4436 in the Bishopston area in May 2022.
17-year-old Casey-Leigh Thomas was also taken to hospital with serious injuries, including a brain injury and a broken neck.
Detective Sergeant Deborah Hobrough from South Wales Police said:
“This was a tragic incident which saw two young people lose their lives, and another seriously injured. Rightfully the driver is about to begin a custodial sentence in prison.
“I would like to thank the family for their dignity and composure they have shown throughout the investigation.
“I hope this case highlights the risks of dangerous driving to other road users.”
