Detectives investigating the murder of Elle Edwards on Christmas Eve have arrested a man in Wirral today. (Thursday 26 January).

The 26 year old was shot in the head at the Lighthouse pub in Wallasey, while on a night out with friends.

She is not believed to have been the intended target of the attack.

A warrant was carried out in the Barnston area of the Wirral earlier and a 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and assisting an offender.

He has been taken to a police station for questioning.

Another man: 22 year old Connor Chapman from Woodchurch, has already been charged with murdering Ms Edwards and is expected to go on trial on June 7.

The arrest comes just a day after loved ones said their final goodbyes to Elle, at her funeral service in Wallasey yesterday (Wednesday 25th January).

Hundreds of mourners gathered at her funeral on Wednesday, at St Nicholas Church, where a funeral cortege led by a hearse with floral tribute saying "Elle May" was followed by Ms Edwards's coffin in a carriage pulled by four white horses.

The order of service asked for donations to the Elle Edwards Foundation in her memory.
