Emily Campbell earns Olympic bronze in weightlifting final
Her win now brings Team GB over the number of medals it earned in Tokyo
Emily Campbell has earned a bronze medal in the women's weightlifting event at the Paris Olympic Games.
Campbell, from Nottingham, set a combined personal best of 288kg over several weightlifting disciplines to clinch the medal.
She ultimately finished in third place behind Li Wenwen from China, who took the gold medal, whilst Hyejeong Park from South Korea earned silver.
As a result, 30-year-old Campbell is the first British weightlifter to win two Olympic medals in one tournament in over half a century.
Campbell's win also means that Team GB have bested their medal tally from the games in Tokyo in 2021.
Realising she had won the medal, Campbell was seen doing a cartwheel for spectators, who cheered her on following her respective 126 and 162kg lifts.
Eventual winner Li Wenwen celebrated her win by refusing to do her final lift, instead taking her coach onto the stage and lifting him, to the delight of viewers in the South Paris Arena.
