Ceiling collapses at restaurant in Salford Quays

There's a significant emergency services presence in Salford Quays as crews deal with a ceiling collapse.

It happened at a restaurant at around 3.45pm this afternoon (Sunday 8th September).

Fire engines, ambulances and police cars can be seen parked up close to the Lowry theatre.

It's been confirmed no one has been injured but work at the scene continues.

The Lowry theatre has confirmed its planned show tonight is going ahead.

Emergency services statements

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue said:

“At just after 3.45pm today (Sunday 8 September), fire crews were called to reports of a collapsed ceiling at a restaurant on Salford Quays.

“Three fire engines from Salford and Broughton quickly attended the incident.

“Crews are working to make the area safe and remain in attendance”.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said:

"At around 3.45pm today, officers were called to reports of a ceiling collapsing at a business on Salford Quays.

"Officers are in attendance along with other emergency service colleagues as they carry out their work.”
